Walker Baptist offers all patients, visitors, and employees a smoke-free environment as part of our commitment to health and wellness. Our smoking policy does not allow smoking anywhere in the hospital. If your visitors wish to smoke, they may do so in the designated smoking area outside the hospital. This area is located at the gazebo in the courtyard beside the cafeteria on the first floor.
All medications you take while in the hospital are prescribed by your physician, dispensed by our pharmacy, and administered by a nurse. If you are on maintenance-type drugs, such as medication for high-blood pressure or diabetes, your nurse will administer these with the permission of your physician. Patients are not allowed to administer their own medications or keep personal medications at the bedside.
Walker Baptist cannot be responsible for lost or misplaced valuables. Because of this, patients are asked not to bring valuables to the hospital. If you do bring a valuable item, please have a family member or friend take it home. If these arrangements cannot be made, your nurse can arrange for your items to be secured.
The identification band placed on your wrist allows our staff to check your name when giving you your medicine and when performing tests and procedures. The band is for you protection. Please do not remove it until you are discharged from the hospital.
An electronic security system has been installed to insure the safety of the babies.
Any electrical items brought from home must be safety checked by the maintenance department prior to use.
Weapons and Alcoholic Beverages
Under all circumstances, weapons (guns, knives, etc.) and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited from the Walker Baptist campus.
Magnetic interference can cause medical equipment to work improperly or completely shut down. We ask that cellular phones not be used in patient rooms or areas that contain medical equipment.
