The Baptist Hospitals will try to provide necessary interpreter services for the convenience of our patients and their families. In an effort to provide the best communication available, if possible, please provide us with a courtesy call so that we may attempt to make proper arrangements.
For the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Patient
A video remote interpreting device is available to help hearing-impaired patients communicate with their medical team or for patients who want to communicate with a hearing-impaired relative or friend. Arrangements can also be made to have an on-site interpreter to assist with a hearing-impaired or deaf patient upon availability.
Non-English Speaking Patient
The video remote interpreting device is also available to provide communication in several foreign languages for the non-English speaking patient when on-site interpreters are not available. The Baptist Hospitals also have access to a language line which provides interpreters for over 180 languages. In an effort to provide care without delay, the Baptist Hospitals will offer video remote interpreting and language line access to provide sign language or spoken non-English language to patients and family members when on-site interpreters are not available.
