The Behavioral Medicine Unit offers a comprehensive range of treatments to help adults ages 19 to 64 recover and regain their lives. Our acute care unit provides a structured and supportive environment for patients to assure their safety and well-being with 24-hour nursing care.

Our staff of therapists, registered nurses, patient care assistants and psychiatrists is committed to providing quality behavioral health care. We offer a multidisciplinary approach to develop an individualized treatment plan for every patient that involves medication management, stress management and coping skills to deal with mental illness.

Treatment

Our inpatient program provides treatment of a wide variety of mental illness disorders including:
• Mood Disorders
• Anxiety Disorders
• Psychotic Disorders

The compassionate and individualized treatment plan is enhanced by family and support system involvement in the patient’s care. During the inpatient program, treatment focuses on evaluation, stabilization and assistance for patients and their families to promote optimal mental health.

Discharge Planning

Discharge planning begins at the time of admission with continued preparation as the patient progresses in the treatment process. We recognize the importance of timely and accessible follow-up care after a patient is discharged from the hospital.
The Behavioral Medicine Unit partner with the Northwest Alabama Mental Health Center to provide a continuum of care with their services that include:
• Outpatient Therapy
• Partial Hospitalization Programs
• Intensive Outpatient Program
