Miracles Do Happen Everyday

Miracles do happen every day. Believe it! Are you looking for a miracle in your life? That is a simple question and does not need any clarification or explanation. Your first response to that question was the right response and there is no right or wrong answer to it.
If you are NOT looking for a miracle, thank God! If you ARE looking for a miracle, you, too, can thank God! After all, with our full faith and trust in God, we have the confidence and assurance that God is with us regardless of our life’s situation and need.
Miracles are experienced daily and we can experience them if we have only the faith as the size of a mustard seed! Jesus said, “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move; nothing would be impossible for you” (Matthew 17:20, 21). This is a difficult passage of scripture. Some have used it to judge another person for not having ‘enough’ faith or else their prayers would be answered. “‘Enough faith?’ you ask.” Remember, Jesus said ‘if you have the faith as a grain of mustard seed….’ Now, that is small! The important thing is to remember that our faith is focused on God and not on the miracle itself.
There is a story in the gospel of Mark that makes me wonder about the effects of prayers on behalf of others. Four men carried a paralytic on a stretcher and placed him in front of Jesus. The paralytic was healed. How so? The scripture calls our attention to the faith of the stretcher bearers rather than the paralytic. “Seeing their faith..,” Jesus healed the man (Mark 2:1-12).
We have heard it said that ‘prayer changes things.’ I prefer to say that ‘prayer changes people.’ Prayers are answered according to God’s will not our will; God’s way not our way; according to God’s time not our time. Our faith is not defined by the power of positive thinking. Unfortunately, I think we give up on God, others and self before we see the answers to our prayers (or the prayers of others).
Still looking for a miracle of faith? How about a miracle of love? A miracle brought forth from God’s love? According to the scriptures, Paul wrote that of the big three: ‘faith, hope and love,’ the greatest of these is love! I wonder...If faith the size of a mustard seed can ‘move a mountain’ and love is greater than faith, then, what can the power of God’s love accomplish in and through us?
Wait expectantly on the miracle of faith, hope and love! Wait on… God!
Prayer: Lord, grant us the eyes to see and the ears to hear how You are revealing yourself to us each day. Amen.
