I am preparing for a bike ride. I have been talked into doing a bike with ride with a friend of mine for…..wait for it…100 MILES. First, prayers are needed. 100 miles is long time in a car, and IT will be a very long time on a bike. I have asked for advice from experience riders and they usual say the same thing, “IT HURTS!” It hurts? That’s your advice? Come on, man! Give me some jedi mind trick I can use. Show me some miracle supplement. IT Hurts? Guess what? God told the disciples and us the same thing. If we are going to serve the Lord Jesus Christ with all of our hearts IT IS GOING TO HURT. Why? Because you got to go somewhere and be something you have never been before.
"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33
In this life, we will face pain and difficulties . Heartache from failed relationships and deaths will occur throughout our lives. We need to understand that God is in control. I wish to journey spiritually did not hurt, but as I look back on my life, I thank God for the “hurts” which have helped me become what God wants. Will I race in the Tour de France? Probably not, but through the pain I can say, “I RODE 100 miles on A BIKE!” When God brings us through “hurts”, we can praise HIS NAME for getting us through these storms.
